Where and when does Never take place?

Never is a small town located at the very northern border of New Mexico with Colorado. It is roughly mapped on Raton, NM. Our game begins in the year 1882, and time passes 1:1 with the modern calendar.

The current month and year may always be located at the top of the site index page, below the header.

How is the setting supernatural?

Never and its immediate environs sit upon one of the few places in the world where the barrier between life and the afterlife is thin. Being within the broader area of the town boosts supernatural abilities, and this constant flood of power is a conscious and unconscious draw for supernatural beings.

The fight for souls

Spirits who have yet to "move on" flock to Never from all over the world, where they are automatically tangible again between sundown and sunup — They can pretend they are alive again, and even hold down steady jobs in a town that never sleeps. This glut of undecided souls has drawn the attention of a number of lesser Angels and Demons, whose ostensible goal is to covert these souls to their "side." Whether they are successful — Or put forth much effort — varies. Either way, setting up residence in Never provides a degree of cover for subordinates subject to heavenly or hellish expectations.

Witchcraft, Mediums and Seances, oh my!

Never's innate power also draws many and varying Witches — Genuine and otherwise. Never's reputation is such that with the new railroad stop in town, there is a constant influx of "spiritual tourists" — Most often those looking to communicate with dead loved ones. There is no lack of predators waiting to separate them from their money, but there are also quite a few witches in town with good intentions, whether they work as mediums or not.

Being Human

Never has plain old humans, lots of them, and not just tourists! An active copper and silver mining operation is just out of town, and has drawn in plenty of workers. There is, however, an eons-long innate understanding among those in the supernatural world that you keep it a secret. If you live in Never awhile, chances are you know something is a little off about the place, but supernatural folks tend to be tight-lipped and good with casual excuses.
