Appearance

Notable Features

- A few scattered freckles on her face and arms.
- A scar on her knee, from a nasty fall when younger.
- Has her ears pierced, but rarely wears earrings nowadays.

Personal Style

Ginta dresses simply, since her family no longer has as much money as they once did, and now that she's traveling on her own, she can't carry a ton of extra clothing with her. She does her best to keep her clothes clean, but it's hard to imagine, looking at her now, that she was once nobility.

Occupation

Relationship Status

Single
Circumstances

Currently

After making a demon contract years ago to save her brother's life, Ginta is desperate to know what she would have to do to save both their souls, refusing to believe it's impossible. So she's traveled west, to a town where she can contact the supernatural again. She's searching for an expert who can help, who can understand the terms of the magical deal in a way that her human education didn't prepare her for. And maybe even seek out the demon to confront her...

Health & Capabilities

Ginta is fairly physically fit, though she sometimes has problems with her hands and wrists, since she's spent many years repetitively sewing clothes for work. Coming west has been a relief, as she loves fresh air, running, and riding.

Mentally, there are a few things she struggles with. She fears fire after her experience in the Great Chicago Fire a decade ago. She also has a tendency toward being physically self-destructive when she gets frustrated.

Socioeconomics

Nowadays, Ginta doesn't have much in the way of money. Despite a comfortable childhood, in less than 20 years, her family has had their estate stripped from them, paid for passage across the ocean, and lost their house in the Chicago fire. By now, she's used to frugality, and is often suspicious that others are trying to rip her off. Still, her mannerisms are often more upper-class than her appearance, which can seem odd to others.

Skills & Talents

- Good and fast at sewing, though she's very tired of it.
- Perceptive.
- Decent at shooting.

Past Relationships

Background

History

Gintarė Vilkaitė was born into a rapidly changing world. It was reflected even in her name, "amber" instead of one of the common church names that she might have had if she was born in her parents' generation. She and her twin sister were happily welcomed to parents who had struggled for nearly seven years after their first child to have another, and now had two at once.

The Vilkas family were minor szlachta, nobility with a small estate. But it was an estate nonetheless, and from their very existence as nobles from the old days of Poland-Lithuania, they had the seemingly glorious past to look back to when the ideas of nationalism began to spread through all of Europe. This was a Lithuania searching its past to find its future. Ginta's father was not one of the most outspoken; he wasn't inclined to philosophize, but even he had adopted the identity of this history.

So Ginta's childhood was comfortable. They had income from their land. They had serfs, such a longstanding part of life in this area of the world that she didn't grow up thinking of it in any moral terms.

And then there was Jonas. Her youngest years were spent adoring her older brother, looking up to him, begging him to teach her all of his interesting hobbies. Jonas was Ginta's hero, her role model, everything a brother should be in her eyes. He was also trying to be a hero in his own eyes. As a young man, heading into 1863, he was becoming an activist, and when the rebellion burst out in January, he was among the fighters. Ginta, still young and still far away from the political chatterings of university men, didn't see the fighting, but she was convinced that her brother must be doing the right thing.

Then the rebellion was crushed, and everything changed. Nobody knew where Jonas was, only hearing the news that rebels were being executed. Ginta feared the worst. But there was one person who could help, at least in a way. Ksienija was Jonas's fiancee, though for a wedding that may never happen, if he was destined for execution or even already dead. She was also, as she revealed to Ginta, a witch. Not that her powers alone could find out where he was, or save him--but there were things she knew. Angels and demons she knew.
