Reverend Hawthorne Lichfield runs a cult on the outskirts of Never as though it is an honest and respectable religion, because to him, it is. The silver-tongued demon offers a better life to all his parishioners in exchange for faith that all roads under his serene guidance will lead to Eternal Glory. He seems unapproachable, but he is often the kindest and most soft-spoken gentleman one might ever meet or contract with in all of Never.Health & Capabilities
Thorn is in remarkable health for a man his age, all things considered. He carries himself with the energy of a man half his age, all credit to his lord, no doubt. His dress shirts and suits are hard to tell, but the reverend is well-toned for his age, all credit to his work on the Hawthorne Homestead and within the community.Socioeconomics
The man is loaded with generational wealth from his family in England. It is why and how he is always so well dressed, and he was able to take a struggling homestead and turn it into a thing of enviable beauty. Unlike the Catholics, Eternal Glory will never require a fiscal tithe; his funds can maintain it all.Skills & Talents

Habits & Routines
The reverend has a habit of running into people at the crossroads leading toward or away from Never, depending on their orientation. He welcomes new faces and shows them around town as much as he tries to convince people not to leave when they seem troubled about their path leading them astray. If he is not at the crossroads outside of town, he is usually at one of the crossroads within Never, willing to talk to anyone who looks like they could use a shoulder to lean on or at least an unbiased ear to bend.Personality
On the surface, the reverend can appear unapproachable. He will approach if he feels his company is willing to converse politely. When he speaks, it is at a low, almost hypnotic hum that can lull most of his company into a false sense of security. He is full of stories and historical references that always fit any situation. While he will avoid personal anecdotes until he gets to know a person, he does have a habit of establishing a perfectly curated version of himself to fit every person he meets so that he is the person they need most when they are most vulnerable. The funny thing is he does not have to lie, all of what he says is true, or could be true, to the best of one’s knowledge. Thorn prides himself on his truthful prowess, to find ways to skirt the edges of falsehood without ever bending a fact beyond what could be true in the right order of speech. He cannot offer contracts until he gets to know a person, their level of need, and the complexity of what they would need to agree that their life has improved because of him. And then there are the little joys in life. He enjoys letting a monster out of the box where truly dark souls dwell as much as he loves tempting a good soul into the joys of a good sin. Background
History
Known History: Reverend Hawthorne Lichfield was born and raised in Lichfield, England. At the age of twenty, he inherited his uncle's homestead on the outskirts of Never. When he arrived, the homestead was little more than a barren waste, but it is now an oasis teeming with life. Some would say it is the envy and dismay of the neighbors. The sudden, beautiful splendor of the land is the cause for envy, but the questionable activities of the homestead annoy the neighbors. For over 30 years, the reverend has converted and baptized many into his flock. Holy meetings of Eternal Glory started as little more than lost souls meeting in the gardens of the Hawthorne Homestead. Then they progressed to the construction of an actual church there to preserve the members from the elements during worship. Thus, the official House of His Eternal Glory was established as a place of worship and shelter for lost souls found at a crossroads, willing to do anything to make a better life for themselves.
The neighbors are fairly certain Eternal Glory is a cult, and they are right, but no parish member would call it that. They are devout followers of the lord. Which lord remains to be seen.
Lesser-Known History: Hawthorne Lichfield has been known by many names over the years, perhaps not in this lifetime. His true name is Ehrathown. Like an inescapable rash, he has popped up over many years, always starting in Lichfield and venturing to new lands of opportunity. The oldest story he has ever told was of his conversion of St. Chad, Bishop of Mercia, who declared 'Lyccidfelth' his bishop's seat. Through many incarnations and a series of trial and error, he has learned to avoid converting major Catholics or getting into contracts with them. They know enough to do something stupid, and he detests contract breakers. It is out of sheer habit of thumbing his nose at the Catholic church that he sets up shop wherever the church can be found.
A silver-tongued devil in his own right, Hawthorne has established the house of his lord’s eternal glory as a staging ground, where one cannot say they have chosen the right path if they have never tried the sins from which they claim to abstain. Drug fueled orgies and darkest delights are encouraged to liberate the soul of temptations. All can be forgiven; repentance is written into the good book. Hawthorne loves the confession game. If he did not observe the sins in his chapel, he encouraged his parishioners to come to him with sins they had committed, experienced, or witnessed to free their souls of what binds them. Every incident is meticulously documented and forwarded to the mayor for his ledger, which is the price of doing business in Never.
Powers & Magic
Powers Use
Thorn perpetually uses his ability to gain the confidence of people he meets or persuade them to act upon an impulse or avoid mistakes of their own making. Always knowing what to say is sometimes annoying, and he has found that it can unnerve people. Plain ordinary humans make many mistakes when speaking. It annoys him greatly when words are used incorrectly. Because of this, he often resists the urge to strangle the people around him and is forced to misspeak occasionally to make himself more palatable to ordinary people.Held Contracts
He has fulfilled various contracts for a better life for the parishioners of the House of His Eternal Glory. He goes for the long-term high-yield investments.
