Dellaphina Jones

Owner of the Silk Rose Saloon
Human · 52 · Female
Played by Lyricality
FC: Lisa Bonet
Played by Lyricality · Group: The Silk Rose

Della learned early to let go of everything that doesn’t matter–you need both hands to hold on tight to anything you want to keep. Don’t get bogged down by the weight of inconsequential bullshit, or somebody or something will snatch what matters right out of your hands. She’d lost two daughters and a son before she’d seen twenty years. When she finally escaped the misery of her past, she promised herself that she’d never again lose anything she truly loved. She built the Silk Rose Saloon in St. Louis with blood money taken from the last man who’d laid a hand on her. That seemed like a square deal, but Missouri was still a dangerous place for a woman to openly defy the expectations of gender, race, and society. When the Silk Rose went up in flames one night, taking most of its staff with it, the neighbors shook their heads and clucked their tongues and whispered What else could she expect, living like that? Evidence of arson was brushed under the rug. But Della had made a promise to herself, and she knew her soul would never rest easy anyway, so she bargained with the only thing she had left to lose.

Twelve years ago, the Silk Rose unfolded itself whole on a street corner in Never, New Mexico, with Dellaphina Jones on the deed as sole proprietress. Customers may find that the rooms have a whiff of smoke–or maybe brimstone–now and then, but everything is otherwise circumspect.

Moses Ward

Site Canon Character
Trackman (Railroad repair)
Witch · 30s-40s · Male
FC: Joel Kinnaman
Site Canon Character

Moses in a PURITAN WITCH with ELEMENTAL powers.

Moses Ward was born in a small village outside of Stockholm, the son of a “healer” (read: Witch), who raised Moses alone after his father was crushed by a fallen horse cart. Moses grew up learning the ways of the elements, developing a natural affinity for controlling wind, fire, and water. He trained in metalwork as a young man, but the growing promise of the industrial age called to him. In his twenties, he left Sweden for England, seeking opportunities with the expanding railway system.

There, he met Willem Brandt, a Dutch-born witch with similar talents and an unquenchable thirst for adventure. The two became inseparable, their bond deepening as they shared their magical knowledge. Together, they unknowingly formed a coven — Two immigrant witches in a land that wasn’t ready for them. The British witches drove them out. With few options left, Moses and Willem journeyed west, hearing whispers of a town called Never, promised to be a haven for those like them, hidden away from prying eyes.

Willem Brandt

Witch · 30s-40s · Male
FC: Michiel Huisman
Site Canon Character

Willem is a PURITAN WITCH with ELEMENTAL powers.

Willem Brandt was the fifth child and third son in a large, renowned Dutch family of witches, where magic was as commonplace as the air they breathed. Raised in a household filled with the hum of spells and rituals, Willem quickly developed a natural talent for woodworking and engineering. He started by repairing carts for the nearby farms, his steady hands and sharp mind eventually leading him to a lucrative career as a wheelwright, crafting fine wheels for wagons and carriages.

In his twenties, seeking new opportunities, Willem left the Netherlands for England, hoping to find fortune and adventure. It was there that he met Moses Ward, a Swedish railroad worker, and the two quickly formed a bond. Together, they shared their magical knowledge and dreams of a life away from the constraints of their old worlds. But their ambitions were met with hostility from the local British covens, who resented their presence and pushed them out.

With nowhere else to turn, Willem and Moses made their way to America, drawn by the whispered promise of a mysterious town called Never. In this new land, they’ve found work and are settling into the diverse, bustling community. Though he’s slowly carving out a life for himself, Willem can’t shake the feeling that Never holds secrets, and he’s beginning to suspect the town’s hidden truths may be far darker than he first imagined.

Sid is a NAGUAL WITCH.

Siddhartha “Sid” Ahmad’s family fled Bengal during the devastating famine of 1770, and since then, they’ve been on the move — Never quite nomadic, but never putting down permanent roots. By the time Sid turned 20, he had already lived in four different countries, constantly in search of opportunity and a place that might finally feel like home. His family, close-knit and resilient, has always adapted, but the longing for stability remains.

Percival Hassan

Undertaker
Witch · 30s · Male
FC: Dev Patel
Site Canon Character

Percival is a MEDICINE MAN WITCH.

Percival Hassan’s parents, Indian immigrants, settled in New York when he was just two years old, and he grew up in the bustling streets, surrounded by other transplants chasing the American Dream. His childhood was spent playing with his younger brother and learning the ways of the world from a colorful mix of cultures. From a young age, Percival showed an affinity for magic, and his gentle-natured mother — A witch in her own right — taught him everything she knew, nurturing his talent with care.

It was a tragic event — A neighbor’s fatal accident, leaving the body horribly disfigured — that first drew Percival to the work of an undertaker. Disturbed by the idea that families couldn’t properly mourn due to their loved ones’ ravaged appearances, he learned to use his magical gift to heal and restore, allowing the deceased to be remembered with dignity. Over the years, his talent for has made him a skilled practitioner, known for his meticulous work and uncanny ability to transform a body, whether to repair it or, at times, to prevent others from recognizing it.

After a painful romantic breakup in his late twenties, Percival left New York in search of something different, something to help him heal. He found his way to Never, where the culture shock was stark but invigorating. There, he quickly became well-loved for both his fastidious work and his peculiar accent — A blend of Colonial English and New Yawk — that makes his speech as mysterious as his magic. In Never, he has found a place where he can continue his work in peace, though he remains haunted by the choices he’s made and the strange, shifting town around him.

Oliver Millard

Site Canon Character
Medium
Witch · 30s · Male
FC: Alex Turner
Site Canon Character

Oliver is a PURITAN WITCH with ILLUSION powers.

Oliver Millard was born and raised in the chaotic streets of Chicago, where mischief was second nature. With parents mostly absent throughout his childhood, Oliver spent his early years learning to fend for himself, often hearing strange voices that he assumed were signs of madness. It wasn’t until he was twelve, when an aunt revealed to him that these voices were not a sign of insanity but a gift — Capital-S “Sight” into the next world — that he began to understand his true nature.

Left largely to his own devices, Oliver honed his abilities in secret. Without proper guidance, he learned to tap into the spirit world, at first to entertain himself, but soon enough to manipulate it for his gain. Using his talent for illusions, he began conning unsuspecting marks, pretending to communicate with the dead while fleecing them for their money. It was a profitable but dangerous game, until four years ago when he crossed the wrong ghost. The vengeful spirit unleashed a series of terrifying events that forced Oliver to flee Chicago, desperate for a peaceful night’s sleep.

After bouncing from one town to the next, Oliver was drawn to Never, a place with its own strange aura. There, he has begun to ply his trade once more, offering his services as a spiritual medium. But as he reconnects with the spirit world, Oliver senses that there’s something darker about Never — Something that might just require more than illusions to survive.

The two have since become fixtures in the town, their business an undeniable success. Marguerite “Rita” Griffin

Site Canon Character
Bartender at the Silk Rose
Spirit · 20s · Female
FC: Halsey
Site Canon Character · Group: The Silk Rose

Rita is a REVENANT SPIRIT.

Marguerite Griffin — Rita, to those who know her — is a woman who has always lived by quick wits and quicker lies. Once, long ago, she was a grifter’s daughter, raised in a painted wagon that rattled along the East Coast, peddling false cures and impossible promises. Born in 1772 to a family of travelers and tricksters, deception was her birthright. She wore it well until the night in 1800 when the con caught up with her: A knife in the dark. A pair of angry hands. A body sinking into the Ohio River.

But Rita never truly left.

Now, more than eighty years later, she lingers in Never, working at the Silk Rose as if she belongs there, wearing borrowed smiles and dresses that never seem to collect dust. No one questions where she came from. No one notices that she never eats, never tires, never leaves so much as a footprint in the dust outside her room. She keeps her secret well… until the rains come.

Rita cannot cross water. Even the thought of the creek to the east of town makes her breath hitch, though there is no breath left in her lungs. And sometimes, when the wind howls through Never’s streets, she swears she can still feel the weight of cold, dark water pulling her under.

Doli “Doe” Solares

Site Canon Character
Rancher
Witch · 30s-50s · Female
FC: Irene Bedard
Site Canon Character

Doe is a MEDICINE WOMAN WITCH with SPIRITUAL HEALING/HARM powers.

Doe is the eldest of Lee Solares’ children, and she’s always taken the responsibility seriously. Sweet-natured and dutiful, she’s devoted herself to the protection of her brother and the caretaking of her family–a title she extends to the workers, riders and cowhands of the Double Six ranch. Her predictability made her sudden disappearance–and reappearance, one month later–even more of a disturbing shock for those that loved her best. Her cheerful disposition remained unchanged, and her total refusal to explain both the absence and the pregnancy that resulted from it revealed a stubborn streak that had always run straight down to the bone. Plenty of people outside the family have trouble understanding how sullen, awkward Aracely came from bright and big-hearted Doe, but the Solares clan isn’t much surprised. Whatever the price for her only child, Doe paid it gladly.

Julián Aguilar

Site Canon Character
Blacksmith
Human · 30s-40s · Male
FC: Juan Pablo Di Pace
Site Canon Character

Always a solemn child, Julián embodied the archetype of the eldest son–responsible and obedient. His personality combined the best of his father’s determination and his mother’s patience, and even his adolescent years were mostly absent the usual teenage rebellions. When it became clear that he hadn’t inherited his mother’s magic, he channeled that disappointment into proving himself useful in other ways: excellence in his work; care for his siblings; expansion of the family business. He kept any uncertainties or insecurities contained behind a serene exterior. His family teased that he showed more affection toward the horses they stabled than toward anyone outside the family, and he smiled along, but the truth was that he kept his passions just as secret as his doubts. No one knew that his great romance ended in tragedy. No one understands that when he buries himself more thoroughly in work than ever before, they’re witnessing the aftermath of personal catastrophe.
