Sally Ducker, known locally as Allie, is one of the more well known prostitutes working at the ever approachable Silk Rose. But her ambition does not stop there. With dreams of wearing luxurious gowns and entertaining the wealthy, Sally hopes to double cross her brothel madam by extending her reach toward the Pearl instead. But, that’s easier said than done. Twelve years ago, the Silk Rose unfolded itself whole on a street corner in Never, New Mexico, with Dellaphina Jones on the deed as sole proprietress. Customers may find that the rooms have a whiff of smoke–or maybe brimstone–now and then, but everything is otherwise circumspect.
