-A tattoo on the inside of her right ankle, its a beatle.
-Scars of welts on her back laced in a Z pattern.

Personal Style

Hattie dislikes being compared to the upper class or even the middle class woman. Those who love their appearances and want to keep them posh and tamed? That could not be Hattie. She likes to feel the wind through her hair and the sand on her feet.

Hattie will not wear a gown and the other items with the ensemble unless she is practically forced to. Instead, she will opt for a worn skirt and a used shirt or blouse. Her clothes are often covered in patches where she has fixed numerous holes.

While she has a pair of boots and other shoes, she will generally be seen barefoot.

Occupation

Writer

Relationship Status

Circumstances

Currently

Hattie currently owns a small cottage within the Mystic district. She came to Never as an escape route, a place where she could sit back and explore the wild while writing things she craved to know more about. Does her writing explore the strange and the mysterious? Maybe… Is Never the reason behind that… Perhaps, but no one will ever know due to her pseudonym.

When not holed up in her home, Hattie can be seen wandering around town shoeless and a scowl pressed to her lips. She tries her best not to be bothered by others, but well, she gets nosey, so instead she does the bothering even if she plays it off as if she's the one being offended.

Health & Capabilities

Hattie seems a bit too skinny to the eye, but she wouldn't go as far as to say she was unhealthy; in her own mind, she was just the right amount of healthy.

Trauma hangs high in those closets of hers. Running from a family she never knew, and a family who took her in only to use her for their own needs. The past still hurts, and it causes her headaches and confusion, occasionally going so far as to make her forget where she is at all.

Socioeconomics

Despite using a male name to make more money from her writing, Hattie is not well off, and she does not care. What little money she does make goes into gathering the basic necessities and keeping her little cottage afloat.

Skills & Talents

-Shooting: She's pretty good at shooting squirrels or rabbits in order to make some stew or use the carcass for a spell.

-Sleight of hand: A girl had to start somewhere, that somewhere just happened to be picking pockets.

Hobbies

- Foraging: Hattie is always on the lookout for items to use in either her cooking or her spells. Regardless shes like a crow when it comes to things she finds interesting.

- Cooking: Having to learn the hard way of how to take care of herself, Hattie has found a fondness for cooking. Baking however is another story. (All her desserts usually end up burnt-looking and tasting.)

Habits & Routines

Hattie spends every weekend searching for perfect ingredients to keep on hand in her cottage. When she can't do this, she gets rather antsy and will often be seen either pacing around town following her true pattern or talking to herself, berating while drinking a tall glass of wine.

- Pacing. Pacing a lot. The girl has a lot of baggage, and when she's not talking to herself, she's trying to find some other outlet to get these things in her head out into the real world.

Personality

On the outside, Hattie is unique and unapologetically herself. She can be brash and opinionated, making her own thoughts and values known without a care for what the other person has to say. She is stubborn to a point, steadfast on making her own way in the universe without the input of others, but that's not to say she won't stand up for others. Hattie hates a bully. She is willing to pull out teeth and claws to get what she wants and protect those she loves.

She's got a stubborn and mean front, but crack that shell, get to know her a bit, and she may show you that she is sweeter on the inside. Time and effort do make the most beautiful jewels.

Past Relationships

-Albert Moore (Deceased): He was an abusive man to both her and her adoptive mother. She's not sad that he's gone, though sometimes she does forget she was the one to end him, and often her brain makes it seem like she was just in the room witnessing a horror instead of committing the horror.

-Celia Moore (Alive): Complicated. The best way to describe their relationship is complicated. Celia and her no longer talk, but Celia did help her cover up her adoptive father's murder. It wasn't just Hattie that he was hurting after all.
Background

History

Hattie Moore has always and will always be what she considers an outcast.

There is very little she remembers from her younger years of life, but this much is known. Hattie was given up, tossed on the street, barely able to crawl. From what she can infer, she was born from a long line of witches, but has never had the chance to actually meet the woman who gave birth to her. Instead, she was given up to a woman and a man of seemingly wealthy means. Her new father, Albert Moore, never really wanted much to do with her, often stating that her red hair and wild eyes meant she was created for the devil. It didn’t help that by the time she was crawling and walking, all sorts of strange things would happen.

For starters, she would disappear for hours on end, only to turn up with her sheets torn to shreds or her clothes muddy. Having not known any words, it was difficult for them to truly know where she had run off to. Her new mother, Celia Moore, described her as a free spirit even as a babe, saying she was creative and imaginative and that she was sure to bring in wondrous things.

That changed the second she became more than just a baby. Hattie began to notice she could do things, like certain poems or strings of words, that caused specific outcomes. It was easy to get the bully to fall and break her arm if you said a little rhyme. This terrified Celia the first time she heard Hattie speaking of such things.

Celia scolded Hattie to no end, even going as far as telling lies about her actual mother. Apparently, by the recollection of Celia, Hattie's actual mother was a scandalous woman who had fallen for the sharp tongue of a vagabond. The man had placed his wicked charm over her and cursed her with a baby and an unmarried hand.

Celia told Hattie that if she continued with these wild thoughts and imaginings, she would no doubt end up like her mother, tricked by a man and cast out to the side. So, what did Hattie do? Well, she ran to books. She kept her nose hidden amongst the words on a page until she one day she wound up getting pushed and pulled a little too hard at school. One wrong word, and the little girl had wound up in a ditch. Not dead, just severely injured. Hattie remembers the way the blood stuck to her forehead, the way the rocks embedded into her palms. It was mind-numbing in all the right ways. To hold such power in her hands. It was a taste, just a taste.

But by the time she got back home, her father had it out for her. To this day, she can still feel the sting of the switch across her behind, the welts forming beads under her fingertips, and the screams gurgling from her lips as he moved on to other punishments. Hattie never hated a man more.

Albert was her first taste of freedom. He called her a monster, Satan's mistress, and so that's what she would become. Hattie remembers changing, claws ripping through her flesh and into another, tufts of fur filling the room before bits of blood and ripped skin followed. His gurgled screams overlapped her own in her memory. It was beautiful, but over way too fast for her liking. The second the light was gone from one who had wished illness and wrong upon her, it was like a switch had been flicked, there was no more joy… Just pure survival.

Hattie left, leaving behind a life of riches she could have had and opted for one on the road. She made good use of her magical shifting to catch game she needed, and following any lead she could get to hone her craft and witchy skills. She enjoyed the power, enjoyed the command of having her life as her own.

Perhaps it was the fantasy, and the power that made her choose her living, but either way if anyone dared to stand in her path again she would be sure to fight them for it.

Powers Use

Shifting: Hattie can transform into a red fox; she prefers this form when spying, but she will spend an entire day resting after using this power.

Blood magic: Hattie will only use blood magic to make a spell or conjuring more potent. That being said, she has used it for curses before.

Wild-Magic: Hattie is completely self-taught, which means her magic is volatile and often lacks self-control. She attempts to use it for things around the house, using intentions to help with sales or housework. Putting charms in place to keep things clean or help her out. But it will backfire occasionally. It can make her sick or even cause the opposite of what she wants to happen.

Romance

Hattie can be a little bit of a wild hair, and needs someone to ground her, someone who will be kind and take her out of her shell while also hold her hand through all the crazy.

Friends

She doesnt know how to act when people are too nice to her, but she also doesn't know how to act when people are mean to her. (well besides violence.) She needs someone to be okay with her stubborn and curt attitude, while also showing her friends are good and healthy and that she can rely on other people.

Antagonism

Please give me the drama!! Want a curse? Hattie is your gal.
